Want to learn to grow your craft obsession, impress your friends, and make awesome gifts?
Great! Because that’s what I’m here to help you with.
Launched in 2016, Simply Made Fun is a place for like-minded women to gather and get creative together. Whether you are just getting started on your creative journey or have been at it for a while, I’m here to help you find your creative passion and make awesome things. Everyone has a creative side and I’m here to help you uncover yours.
What are some other things I’m here to help you with?
- I believe that everyone is crafty, you just have to dig to find it. I offer numerous types of craft projects (with a special focus on custom cutting machines) that will help you find your creative passion.
- I believe that there is no such thing as creative perfection. I’ll help you embrace the messy and love the results. Even if the mess feels like it’s going to drive you crazy. Trust me, we’ll get past it together!
- You deserve to love what you create and to create what you love. It’s easy! And I will show you how.
The point is this: you’ve got the creative bone in your body, I’m just here to help you uncover it.
It’s taken me a long time to be comfortable in my own creative skin. I’m not the type of person who has a Pinterest perfect home. I don’t specialize in home renovations or big furniture makeovers. Mostly because I live in a small apartment but also because I have the shortest attention span ever. That’s why simple Silhouette projects are my JAM. I’m all about those crafts that I can knock out during nap time and that’s what I love to share here. Projects for the busy millennial mom that loves the nerdy things in life, and who has to maximize the down time they have.
Who is the gal behind all this?
Hey y’all! I’m Teresa, a busy millennial mom who lives off of coffee and bowl of good pasta (and maybe a glass or two of wine). I currently live just outside of Washington DC with my husband and our son in a small two bedroom apartment. It’s a little crowded with all my Silhouette supplies 😜 but we make it work.
I first really found my passion for creating when I worked at a Borders Bookstore back in 2007. When the 7th Harry Potter book was coming out (can I still be in denial that it’s over?) we were throwing a huge party and all the staff was allowed to dress up. One of my best work friends and I worked tirelessly on hand painted t-shirts (that looked AWESOME by the way) for the big release. That was when I first realized how much I loved creating with others. After that I would make shirts for all the movie premiers, but doing it alone just wasn’t the same as creating with friends.
When I first started dreaming up this space I knew I wanted a community for like-minded creatives. A place where we could all gather to have fun and connect over our interests, because I didn’t have that as a kid. And I desperately wanted to find others like me.
Growing up I didn’t fit in because I loved to read and spend my time daydreaming. Think of an Anne Shirley Cuthbert, Jo March, and Hermione Granger combo who would shut herself away in her room writing, dreaming, and creating to her hearts content. I was the odd kid out. The sarcastic know-it-all with big glasses who wore her heart on her sleeve and took everything personally. I’ve since ditched the glasses but everything else is pretty much the same. 😉
If you’re nodding your head and thinking that we’d be great friends, this place is for you. We all need a safe space to be who we are without judgement. To have people that get our obsessions with all things nerdy and who geek out over it too.
