I’ll admit that I was never that into school.  I loved the social aspect of it and used to get in trouble for talking while I was supposed to be working (shocker, right? ha!).  But the whole doing homework and assignments just wasn’t my favorite.  You know what I did love though?  School supplies.  New pens, notebooks, a blank agenda, I lived for that.  There was nothing like writing my schedule down in a blank notebook or writing down important events (like chorus concerts and band practices…..you know, priorities).  So to celebrate my favorite thing about the start of a new school year I made these fun back-to-school organization stickers to share with you all!  Because even if you’re not too excited to go back-to-school you’ll at least have some cute and functional stickers to get organized with!

Weirdly enough, I married a guy who lives for school.  Chris is currently getting his second Masters degree and will graduate in the Spring (finally!).  When it was just the two of us it was really easy for him to go back to school.  I spent the nights he was in class binge watching Netflix or catching up on blogging.  We had a good system going.  But once our little guy was born our system got completely flipped upside down.

I can’t say that I’m sad about it.  Having our little boy has been so fun and he’s such a joy, but it does cause complications when it comes to certain things.  Chris has a really hard time getting homework done on the weekends now because that’s the time when I really rely on him to help me out with the baby and things around the house.  We’ve really had to rely on getting organized in order to get stuff done, otherwise we’re both barely treading water between class, work, and the baby.  This semester I decided I really wanted to stay on top of Chris’s school schedule so that I can help him get his classwork done more efficiently so that we can spend more time together as a family!  And while he may not use my back-to-school organization stickers, they’re essential for me to be able to help him be more efficient with his time and to keep up with what our weeks are going to look like!

Want to make your own back-to-school organization stickers?  All it takes is three simple steps!

Materials:

1. Download your own sticker set. These are V3 files that you can open up in the Silhouette Design Studio.  (These files will only work with a Silhouette Machine)

2. Print out the stickers.  After you open the files in the Silhouette Design Studio hit print.  I used the wireless option on my HP Deskjet 3752, which I love because I hate having to try to hide wires!  Plus, the wireless option makes it super easy to print from anywhere in the house.

Side note, did you know there is a mobile app for the Silhouette Studio?  I have yet to figure it out, but once I do I’ll be able to send designs straight from my phone to the printer (if I’m doing a print and cut project).  I’m excited about the ability to print directly from my phone!

3. Cut out your stickers.  Before you even attempt to cut out your stickers make sure the ink on your paper is dry!  Luckily the ink from the HP Deskjet 3752 dries immediately so I didn’t have a problem with smears, but it’s always better to check before cutting because you don’t want to have to reprint!  Then load your paper into your Silhouette Machine, select the White Sticker Paper option under cut settings and check that your blade is set to three.  Then select cut.

Once everything is cut you should be able to lift your stickers up off the paper.  So simple, right?

Can I let you in on a little secret?  I made, printed, and cut these stickers all from my son’s hospital room.  The HP Deskjet 3752 was able to fit in my overnight bag (it’s no taller than my cell phone) and I was able to bring it into the hospital with me.  And the nice thing is, it’s so small that it barely took up any extra room!  Though, all the nurses did laugh when they saw all my supplies.  I come with a lot of baggage.  (ha!)

These back-to-school organizational stickers are probably my new favorite thing about my planner.  They brighten it up and are oh-so-pretty to look at.  Plus, I’m pretty impressed that I was able to do these while at the hospital.  The fact that the HP Deskjet 3752 from Walmart is so small that I was able to keep it in my son’s room without taking up too much space was pretty awesome.  And it was nice to have something to do while we waited for him to heal!

  8. Making your own school stickers is so awesome. I love that you are able to do this with this printer.
