I will never forgot Christmas last year.  Poor Chris and his dad both came down with the flu and were absolutely miserable.  Headaches, the chills, sore throats, the works.  They were pretty much quarantined in their rooms all day since the rest of us didn’t want to catch what they had, and somehow the rest of us were lucky enough to avoid it!

It never fails that when we travel for the holiday’s Chris gets sick.  I think the germs just gravitate to him for some reason.  I don’t get it.  And if he’s lucky enough to catch something when we’re coming back home, he has to deal with it while heading back to work.  He never wants to take off the extra time right after coming back from vacation (unless he feels like he’s dying…or he’s contagious, then he stays home). When that happens, there’s only one thing he wants: tea.  Lots and lots of hot tea to soothe his sore throat and keep the coughs away.  And since Chris is obsessed with all things lemon, it only makes sense that he’d want some Bigelow lemon tea on the days where he feels less than stellar.

I always try to make him a hot cup of tea to take to work with him when he’s sick.  But usually that one cup only lasts so long and then his throat starts acting up and he feels crummy all over again.  He needed a way to bring extra supplies with him to work, so I decided to make him a care package filled with feel-good goodies and a stylish mug to go with it!  Brighten someone's day and send them off to work armed with Bigelow tea & other goodies to keep them healthy and happy during cold & flu season. Materials

To make the mug:

I designed the logo with my silhouette software and then cut it out on silver and red vinyl.  After it was weeded I put the design on transfer paper and then lined it up on my mug!

Use your fingers and slowly press the design down on your mug.  Be very careful with this step because if there are any creases or bubbles you won’t be able to fix them!  Once the permanent vinyl is on the mug it does not come off.  (ask me how I know this…)

Once all the vinyl is on the mug, peel up your transfer paper.  And then it’s done!  (I’m in love with the shiny silver vinyl…)

To make the tag:

Of course, that wasn’t the end of it.  I wanted to make a tag to go with the basket as well.  So I made tags with my software (download yours here!) and used sketch pens to make it.  I had to color in the lemon once I was done and I am so excited about the finished result!

For Chris’s basket I included extra Bigelow tea bags (the lemon kind, of course!), honey, cough drops, and, of course, the mug.  He loved it!  And next time he gets sick he’ll be ready to tackle the work day…and then come home and pass out on the couch.

What is your favorite thing to have when you’re sick?  Have you ever tried Bigelow tea from Walmart?  And if you have, which one is your favorite flavor?
