For Christmas this year my sister asked for a gift that was homemade, my favorite type of project!  Since she is always on the go to parties and other functions, I thought that a casserole carrier would be a great gift for her (and fun for me to make!).

I was so excited to try my hand at making the casserole carrier from 2 Little Hooligans. The tutorial was incredibly easy to follow and it was a big hit at Christmas. The carrier is a great idea for anyone who loves to take dishes to potlucks, and a stylish way to walk in to a party!

Here are the supplies I used to make my carrier.  You can find everything I used at www.fabric.com or at Joann Fabrics.  The Insul-Bright is not available in stores so you either have to buy it off of fabric.com or Amazon.com.

Even though I loved making the carrier, I ended up making a few changes:

-The casserole carrier has one long/skinny piece that wraps around the length of your pyrex dish (it’s the 37 x 12 inch piece).  I increased the length of this piece to 40 inches so that it will wrap around a pyrex dish that has handles.
-Instead of making straps with the extra fabric, I used two and a half yards of cotton belting.  I like the look much better.  You can find out how to do that in Homemade by Jill’s Spring Tote tutorial.

The small utensil holder is such a genius idea! I love having everything in one convenient place.

To complete the present, you could etch a pyrex dish with the recipients last name on it that way they will never lose the dish at a party again!  I unfortunately, don’t have any easy way of etching a name onto a pyrex dish so I opted out of this step.  You could also personalize a wooden utensil so they wouldn’t lose that either!
