Create simple + stylish jewelry to wear this holiday season, like these faux suede Christmas tree earrings!
I’ve always felt a little bit like a fraud when it comes to jewelry. Doesn’t every girl like make-up and pretty earrings and necklaces? Or at least, aren’t they supposed to? I never did, and still don’t to this day. Mostly you can find me in my pajama pants and t-shirts when I’m at home and I’m not too upset about it. And maybe my wedding band if I’m not doing any cleaning. But usually not…because my toddler likes all the shiny things to pull on and try to destroy.
So I typically go without which I figure means I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to that stuff. But sometimes I do like to dress up a little. And so I’ll go and buy a nice pair of earrings from Kohls and wear them for all of 10 minutes before my ears start to hurt from their weight. Then that nice pair of earrings I just spent $20 0n gets thrown into a drawer somewhere and I’m lucky if I find them a month or so later.
I finally just said enough is enough. I’m tired of buying something and not being able to wear them. It’s stupid and a waste of money.
After I made my faux wood earrings I realized that I never had to waste money on store bought earrings again, because I could easily make my own! That’s not to say I won’t go buy a pair of studs at some point, but if I want dangly earrings I now know how to make my own that won’t hurt my ears!
These faux suede earrings are a tad untraditional but I like it that way. They’re stylish, lightweight, and they add a little bit of holiday cheer to all my outfits this season. Plus, the bronze kind of looks like gold and that makes me so ridiculously excited! I don’t like gold jewelry in general but tiny gold Christmas tree earrings are just….perfection.
These faux suede Christmas tree earrings are the perfect nap time craft! They only take 10 minutes to make too!
+ Weed the design and then use a small sewing needle (or even your weeding tool <–that’s what I used) to make a small hole at the top of the tree.
+ Using your pliers, attach the fishhooks to your Christmas tree earrings.
These faux suede earrings are just so perfect for anyone who hates wearing heavy jewelry. The lightweight factor is what sold me on trying them and I am so glad I did! I am obsessed and can’t wait to make more for each season. It’s probably a good thing there are multiple sheets in a pack because I’ll be using them all soon enough.
Besides vinyl, there’s a ton of other cool stuff you can cut with your machine! These are a few of my favorites from the past few years.
Don’t you think a deer silhouette would make cool earrings too? That might be my next project!
