Humorous Brain Surgery Onesies

Keep the mood light and let others know that you love looking on the bright side of things with these humorous brain surgery onesies.

Over the past year and a half I’ve learned that the only way to get through the tough times is to have a sense of humor about them.  One thing my marriage has a lot of is laughter, and I am always thankful for Chris’s quick wit and incredibly weird sense of humor.  It has really helped us get through these stressful nine months with our baby boy.  So when I saw these brain surgery onesies I knew I wanted to recreate them.  They fit in perfectly with Chris’s sense of humor, and I also knew that our neurosurgeon would get a kick out of them the next time he saw us!

Because of the size and shape of our little guy’s head, we definitely have people stare at us while we’re out and about.  I won’t lie and say that it never bothered me, because when he was first born I hated going out of the house.  You can always tell when people pity you (I hate that) and I would get the pity stares a lot.  Well, we still do.

Sometimes I get questions about our little guy, and I welcome those questions because I do understand people’s curiosity.  And then there are the times where people openly stare.  I absolutely hate that because it makes me feel so uncomfortable and agitated.  Those are the times where I wish I was brave enough to confront them and say something snarky but I can never think of anything good to say in the moment.  The perfect retort always comes to me later when I’m feeling much more bold and a little bit hot-headed.

Instead of stooping to a level that I don’t want to go to, I decided to make some humorous brain surgery onesies about our little guy’s condition instead.  I figure that people will still be curious, but if I have a good sense of humor about the whole thing maybe they will too.  And maybe they won’t.  Who knows.  But what I do know is that my smile will be a little bigger on the day that my little guys wears one of these.  Because I think they’re hilarious!

To make your onesie…

  1.  Cut the design out and then weed the excess vinyl from your design.
  2. Place the design on your onesie and then put a pillowcase on top of it.
  3. Heat up your iron and then put it on top of the pillowcase that is on top of your onesie.  Press down as hard as you can for 45-60 seconds until the vinyl is stuck to your onesie.  You may have to press a few more times until every piece is stuck!
  4. Once you’re sure the design is on, you’re done!  It’s time to put that onesie on your kid and then go walk around Target proudly!

If you’re a fan of nerdy and/or funny onesies, I have a few on the blog for you!  I’m a bit obsessed with making things for my little one and love sharing it all on here so that y’all can make your own.  If you decide to make something from the blog, please use the hashtag #craftwithconfidence on social media so I can check out your version!
