Chris has dreamed of all the things he’ll do with our little boy once he makes his big debut, and it’s crazy to think that those dreams will be coming true in just a few short months!  For Chris though, a lot of it has been about what they’ll do once the baby gets a little older.  I’ve heard from family and friends that it’s sometimes harder for men to connect with a tiny little baby, so I wanted to give him a first Father’s Day gift that he could use to connect with our newborn over.  And what better way to do that than to have a Daddy & Me gift basket?

Chris may not like me telling you that his favorite part of the morning is getting ready for the day.  He’s not a morning person what-so-ever but taking his time getting ready in the morning gets him relaxed and ready for the day ahead.  If our son is anything like his dad he’ll love bath time and dressing up, and I wanted to get a gift that would reflect that.  Having Chris get baby boy ready for the days ahead will give them a chance to connect and bond, something I know that Chris is already eager for.  And if I can spoil both of the men in my life with gifts that represent that, I am more than happy to do it!

While the traditional “get ready” gifts would be more along the lines of cute outfits (I mean, look at those tiny little bow ties!!!), comfy bath towels, and nice smelling soap, I wanted to do something a little more personal for Chris.  He loves to wear cologne to work whenever he has to go in for a meeting and we always make jokes about how he likes to smell good for the older ladies by wearing his favorite scent.  The Nautica scent was something new he’s never tried, but loved it the second he opened the box because the sea salt and floral aromas reminded him of the beaches he frequented back home.

Because I’m terrible at keeping secrets, Chris has already seen his gift (oops!).  Which explains why he came downstairs looking for the Nautica Life gift set and promptly grabbed a bottle so that he could put it on before work.  I mean, when you can take a little bit of the beach with you on such a dreary and overcast day why wouldn’t you?

To be honest I’ve never really taken a look around the Nautica section at Macy’s before the other day?  I don’t really know why because looking around I know Chris would love that section!  He grew up in Southern California near the beaches and the Nautica style looks like something that would bring a little of the Southern California to Virginia.  It makes me wish we had a California trip planned for sometime soon!

I am so excited to celebrate Chris’ very first Father’s Day with him this weekend and cannot wait to watch him be a great daddy to our little boy!
