Hey y’all! I have something really exciting for you today! One of my favorite blogger friends, Kristy, is joining us for a Blogger Feature!

Kristy blogs over at Twist & Sprinkle, a blog dedicated to her personal life, being a mom, food (yum!), and loads of other topics!  I absolutely love her blog because of how open and honest she is about her life. And, her recipes are pretty fantastic too which is a complete bonus.

Because I love Kristy so much, I wanted to share her awesome blog and posts with you guys.  So, I asked her to answer 10 questions so we can get to know her better.

Let’s get started!

  1. Why did you decide to start a blog?  How long have you been writing?
-When I started Twist & Sprinkle 7 months ago, my hopes for my blog were to only share my recipes/sweets on there.  I was trying to start my own business, that’s where Twist & Sprinkle came from..My love for sweets!  As the weeks went by I realized I wanted more from blogging.  I began sharing more personal stories and soon I realized what I really wanted.  I wanted to inspire hope through my stories to anyone who needs it.
  2. You’re very open and personal on your blog.  What has been the hardest thing for you to write about?
-I try really hard to stay open and honest for my readers.  I want them to feel connected to my stories through my writing.  I think the hardest thing for me to write about is my past.  Even though I’m only in my twenties I feel as if I’ve been through a lot.  I’ve made mistakes but I’ve been able to grow up into a better person, so it’s important to me to share my stories from my past.
  3. What is your favorite post that you’ve ever written and why?
-My favorite post has to be one I wrote recently, “Why I’m not giving up on blogging” because it meant a lot to me to write out all my honest thoughts towards my blog.  Blogging is this fun creative outlet for all of us, but I think at times we can all feel the emotions I expressed in this post.  Even through all those emotions I think no one should ever give up because in the end blogging is great..I was hoping to really make sure every blogger knew that.
  4. I love your food recipes (especially the desserts!).  Which one is a family favorite in your house?
-Oh my goodness, thank you!  My children love that I love to bake, they get to be the first ones to try my tasty treats!  We really miss the fall recipes right now.  One of our favorite desserts are the Salted Caramel Apple Pie In a Jar, they are soooo delicious and make the house smell great!

  5. I love your series, “Our Story: Through My Eyes”.  You’re so open about what you and your boyfriend have been through.  What is your favorite post from the series?  Which one was the hardest to write?
-Thank you!  My boyfriend was a little hesitant to me sharing our story for the whole world to read, but when I told him how important it was for me to share my side of the story he said it was ok. This series is important to me because we have been through so much and ALL of our trials have made us a strong loving family now.. so as far as my favorite post from the series goes, it is still unwritten! I can’t wait to share the good times, the story about us getting our first apartment and all the fun memories that come along with it! The hardest chapter for me to write was ‘Chapter 3: My Dark Secret of Being Pregnant‘. I never shared that part of my life with anyone, not even family or friends in my personal life. It was hard to open up the past, but it helped to finally talk about it.

You can find the entire series (so far) here.
  6. Let’s do some fun questions!  I’m so sick of this cold weather, aren’t you?  What are some fun plans you and your family have for the summer?
-Yes! I’m so excited for summer! My family and I are going to California this summer. I have a lot of family there that the kids will be meeting for the first time so that is really exciting. We also plan on going to the beach, Legoland, and hopefully Disneyland! My children can not stop talking about going to see the princesses in their castle. 🙂
  7. How do you unwind at the end of the day?
-It all depends on my mood, some nights I like to drink hot chocolate and catch up on my blog reading and some nights my boyfriend and I like to catch up on all our television shows together.
  8. What Disney movie do you love to watch with your kids?
-If I had to choose we would always watch Beauty & The Beast.. but right now my children can not stop watching Frozen. I love it though so no complaints here!
  9. What is your favorite part of blogging?  Most frustrating?
-There are so many good things about blogging, but my favorite has to be the friendships I have made. I get to be inspired by all these women around the world every day and that is something pretty special. The most frustrating thing about blogging is trying to stay organized! I have yet to discover a good schedule for my blog and it really does frustrate me.
  10. What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
-The number one thing I would tell anyone who wants to start a blog is to always stay true to yourself.

Thank you for coming over and visiting with us today Kristy!  I’m so excited to introduce you to my readers and to find out more about you.  You truly are an amazing mama and a very special lady.  I’m glad to have met you through this wonderful blogging adventure.

  1. Congrats on your first blogger feature!

“There are so many good things about blogging, but my favorite has to be the friendships I have made.” ==> I think I have to agree here. The genuine connections made along with the people you inspire is probably one of the most fulfilling things about blogging.

I’m in my 4th month blogging and things have been really exciting, meeting lots of interesting people around the globe.

p.s. Hopped over from The Blog Maven. Now I’m hopping over to Kristy’s blog. 🙂
