Five Reasons to do Christmas at Disney
Ever since getting married in 2012 Chris and I have made a point to head down to Disney World for Christmas. For me, the holiday season hasn’t started until I see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights or Cinderella’s Castle all lit up with her holiday lights. It’s the very best time of the year!
Christmas is my favorite holiday and going to Disney is my favorite travel destination, so combining the two is a match made in Heaven for me. If you’ve never been to Disney during the holidays, you’re missing out! And here are my five reasons why…

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP)
I am a huge fan of themed parties at the Magic Kingdom, and this will be our second year attending MVMCP. They have special character meet and greets, a Christmas themed parade and fireworks show, and small stage shows in front of the castle and in Tomorrowland. It’s a fun experience that you should do at least once in your life!
Epcot’s Candlelight Processional
I’m really sad to admit this but we have never seen this show! Well, that’s not true. We’ve walked by it and heard the beautiful music but that’s the extent of it. From what I know, a celebrity guest tells the story of Christmas and is accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and mass choir. I am determined to see it this year and report back my thoughts on the show. I can’t wait!
Holiday snacks at Epcot
There are two snacks that are a must-have during the holiday season at Disney. The American pavilion offers Peppermint Schnapps hot chocolate (yum!) and you can get Gingerbread Ice Cream in France! I can’t have the ice cream due to allergies but I’ve heard so many people rave about it. The hot chocolate though, I get it all the time and it is so delicious. And it definitely hits the spot on those cool winter nights!
Visit the Resorts
Not only do all the parks get decked out for the holidays, but so do the resorts. Last year we took our friends around to a few of the resorts on the monorail system and had a blast looking at all the decorations! I loved the gingerbread house at the Contemporary Resort and the decorations at the Polynesian Resort were amazing! Definitely something you should go see if you have time!
Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
I actually wrote an entire post about how awesome the lights are, which you can find here. It’s a great show to check-out after it gets dark at the backlot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Come for the lights but stay for the snow and the music!
Wow! Cinderella’s castle looks even more amazing with the twinkle lights!!!! Thanks for sharing, really!
Thank you, Jessy! The castle decked out in Christmas lights is my favorite look!
I am a Disney lover through and through, but I have never been at Christmas! It sounds absolutely amazing though!
Disney at Christmas is my absolute favorite time to go! Everything is so beautiful and there is so much to do! I hope you’ll get to go someday and experience it for yourself.
