As I sit here on the couch listening to the rain fall for the third day in a row, I’m finding myself wishing we were back in Florida enjoying the warm sunshine and good food.  It’s only been a month since our last visit, but for some reason it feels so much longer.  Maybe it’s because the weather here has been overcast and rainy or maybe I’m just going through Disney withdraws, but whatever it is I know I want to go back.  And I really want to make it back to visit Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival one more time before it’s gone!

The main reason for our visit to Disney in March was to take our pregnancy announcement photos, but I also really wanted to visit the big event going on at Epcot.  I always love Spring in Florida but one of the big pluses of the season is the Flower and Garden Festival.  Epcot always seems much more beautiful and enjoyable when there is a special event going on there.  Especially when the park is filled with gorgeous flower displays and yummy food stands stationed throughout World Showcase.

We have five favorite reasons to visit Epcot in the Spring that are a must-do for us every year!

Beautiful Weather

It is no secret that I am not a fan of Disney in the Summer.  It’s hot, crowded, and there are always tons of thunderstorms that shut down rides and put a damper on your day.  If I had to pick a season to go, I’d have a hard time choosing between the Spring and the Fall because both have things working in their favor.  But to me, there is something so wonderful about an afternoon rain shower that lasts thirty minutes and then leads to a spectacular sunset that always seems to happen in the Spring.

Another thing I love about Spring is that even though it can be warm during the day I still can layer up a bit at night.  The weather is always perfect (high 70’s to low 80’s) and with everything blooming it’s truly a sight to see!

Low Weekday Crowds

If you’re headed to the parks during the week in the Spring you may find that the crowds are relatively low.  It definitely depends on whether or not Spring Break is going on, and there are cheer competitions that bring loads of middle and high school girls to the parks, but usually the crowds are mild and you can jump on the more popular rides fairly quickly.

Gorgeous Topiary Displays

I love walking through the park and coming across my favorite characters displayed within the greenery.  My favorites are always the Princess topiaries that are placed back in World Showcase, but there truly is something for everyone!  Even Chris gets into looking at them.

My favorite display this year were the dwarfs with Snow White in Germany!

Certain displays (like Anna and Elsa) can get pretty crowded and have long lines for the Photopass photographers, but if you don’t mind scooting off to the side you can still get great pictures without people in them!

Butterfly Garden

We haven’t done this in a few years, but this is such a fun thing to do with young kids! Walking back towards Living with the Land from World Showcase, there is a large tent set up that you can walk through and take pictures of all the butterflies.  Kids love it and photographers always have a blast taking pictures of everything!

New Food Stands Around World Showcase

I love eating around the world when at Epcot, but there is no better time than when they put up stands with new food and drinks during special events!  With my food allergies some dishes are off limits for me but there is still plenty I can eat and drink!  Chris and I love spending the day trying new dishes, going back for seconds (and thirds) of our favorites, and marking off what countries we visited in our Flower and Garden passport!

We went back for the Watermelon Pomegranate Slushie multiple times during our visit. Chris also loved his blueberry and lemon tart (that I, unfortunately, could not eat).

Have you ever visited Epcot in the Spring?  If you have, what’s your favorite thing to do?
